Step by Step Instructions:

  1. Chop onion and coriander very finely. Chop green chilies. Grate fresh coconut and keep aside.
  2. In a big mixing bowl add rice flour, finely chopped onion, chilies, coriander leaves, grated coconut, cumin seeds and salt to taste. Add warm water as required and prepared a soft dough.
  3. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts.
  4. Grease a griddle or skillet with oil and set it ready. You can use Kadahi also.
  5. Take a ball of rice flour dough and spread or pat it equally and thinly as possible on a greased pan. You can grease or finger with water or oil to pat the dough .
  6. Make hole in center of the rotti as shown in picture. This will help in evenly cooking of roti.

  10. Repeat same process for rest of the rotties if you have another frying pan or Griddle. Otherwise you need to cool down the griddle by pouring running water from the tap on the back side. U can pat on wax paper or parchment paper and then transfer to griddle.
  11. Serve hot Akki Rotti with Mango pickle, Chutney or with plain Curd.

Quick Tips:

  1. You can use fresh frozen grated coconut if fresh coconut is not available*.
  2. You will need a cool griddle or kadahi every time to spread the dough to make rotti. Don’t do mistake of spreading the dough on hot griddle.
  3. Or take use of wax paper or parchment sheet to make rotties.
