Grilled Caprese Sandwich


Caprese sandwich is classic Italian vegetarian sandwich – made from pesto sauce, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, balsamic glaze, seasoned with fresh ground pepper and salt. This sandwich is rich and full of flavors - crunchy, gooey, tangy and sweet. But at the same time this is very easy and quick recipe for your perfect breakfast or brunch. I like my caprese sandwich with sour dough bread but you can choose your choice of bread. I always add arugula for extra green which is optional, but if its handy do add arugula. Give it a try folks and I am sure it will your favorite sandwich too!!!

Ingredient

1.

Sour dough bread/Your choice of bread

4 Slice

4 Tsp.

3.

Tomato, sliced

2 tomato

4.

Fresh mozzarella

4 thick slices

5.

Basil

Handful

Arugula

Handful

7.

Balsamic glaze

1-2 Tbsp.

Fresh ground black pepper

As per taste

9.

Salt

As per taste

10.

Butter

As required

  1. Cut tomatoes and fresh mozzarella into thick slices. 
  2. Spread pesto on all four slices of bread. 
  3. Now will work on one sandwich and will repeat same steps for second one. 
  4. Arrange sliced tomatoes on one slice of bread, season with ground black pepper and salt to taste.
  5. Next arrange a layer of fresh mozzarella and drizzle some glazed balsamic. 
  6. Next add a layer of fresh basil and arugula leaves. 
  7. Drizzle some more glazed balsamic.
  8. Lastly place the second slice of bread on top.
  9. Now heat panini grill or grill pan. Butter the outside of the sandwich flipping carefully. Grill until crisp and golden. 
  10. Serve hot.
