Honey Sesame Tofu



Honey Sesame Tofu- Tofu might not be your favorite, wait until you try this recipe. Tofu is bland in taste but tofu also is one of those food which takes in the flavors of whatever it is cooked in. Tofu when cooked right with right flavors, taste amazing and you are going to love this protein pack ingredient. Honey Sesame Tofu cooked with spicy, tangy and sweet sauce is perfect as an appetizers bite or can be served with rice for lunch/dinner. This Honey Sesame Tofu is crispy, juicy and just delicious. Ingredients

Honey Sesame Sauce

1.

Soy sauce, I used low sodium

¼ cup

Chili-garlic sauce

1 Tbsp.

3.

Rice vinegar

2 Tbsp.

4.

Sesame oil

2 Tbsp. (Divided)

5.

Garlic, minced

2-3 cloves

6.

Corn flour

1 Tbsp.

7.

Water

2-4 Tbsp

8.

Honey

2 Tbsp.



Honey Sesame Tofu

1.

Tofu

1 packet, 14oz

2.

Corn flour

2 Tbsp.

3.

Soy sauce

2 Tbsp.

4.

Sesame oil

2 Tbsp. (Divided)

5.

Sesame seeds

2 Tbsp.

6.

Green onion/scallion, chopped

Step by Step Instruction: [Hide Images]

  1. Drain the tofu from the package, wrap the tofu in cheese cloth or kitchen town and place on a plate. Press with heavy plate and let sit for 15-20 minutes to remove excess water. 
  2. In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients for sauce, mix well and keep aside. 
  3. In a wide pan dry roast sesame seeds on low flame till light golden brown. Keep aside. Chop green onion and keep aside.
  4. After 20 minutes dice tofu into square pieces.
  5. Place the tofu pieces in mixing bowl, sprinkle corn flour evenly, add soy sauce and 1 Tbsp. of sesame oil. give a gentle mix.
  6. Heat remaining 1 Tbsp. sesame oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Once oil is hot, add marinade tofu pieces. Fry on each side for 2-3 minutes till golden brown. Don’t flip or toss too much, tofu might break.
  7. Once tofu is done pour in sauce and toss gently until sauce become thick and everything comes together.
  8. Add in roasted sesame and chopped spring onion, save some for garnishing. Give it a mix.
  9. Turn heat off, transfer tofu to a serving bowl, garnish with sesame and spring onion.
  10. Serve hot. Honey Sesame Tofu taste best when served right out pf pan. Refrigerate the leftover in airtight container for later use. It will last for up to 2 days.
